  4. BC1-Form Teams

Why

Forming teams is critical to establish a consistent base that is trained, dedicated, and improving. It is the structure that maintains accountability and allows culture and practices to emerge. Teams include everything and everyone necessary to deliver results tied to strategy; they are responsible for creating solutions that meet customer needs and are held accountable for delivery. Local decision making at the team level gives the team a sense of ownership and control over their work.

How

As teams are formed in alignment with the Agile Governance model, we will provide training that reinforces this model and teach the Fundamental Agile knowledge to support future training and the activities they will be participating in. The Product Managers and Product Owners will have additional training as these roles have some unique activities in which other team members do not need to be trained. Many teams have been practicing some form of Agile; in order to best understand where each team is in their journey, teams will be observed, and training will potentially be altered based on a team’s experience and proficiency.

Leaders also have new ways in which they will work and support their team. Through Agile for Leaders, we will help them to understand their role in this new environment and how they can best serve their team(s).

We want all team members to have clarity around their role and how they function within the team. Based on the level of experience, knowledge and comfort, we may want to provide sessions around roles and responsibilities. Once Fundamental training is complete, teams will continue to create their Working Agreements and Team Charters. They will also determine the cadence for each ceremony and schedule recurring meetings.
